Day 4: castlegar to Nelson via Salmo pass

Castlegar Best Western start in the am. There is a good coffee shop, Common Grounds across the street, but we did breakfast complimentary in the hotel. Love the waffle maker. Headed out to Nelson, up through Salmo (the long route). Great riding day, fairly quiet and good roads. Stop at the dragonfly cafe in Salmo, chairs outside. Coming in to Nelson was a little harrowing with tight turns on steep decents with many cars around. Headed straight to the Savoy. Treating ourselves for the 32nd anniversary. Pumped tires at the Sacred Ride bike shop; great people. Stored bikes and celebrated with some great beer and food - BackRoads Brewing (too busy for me), Torchlight Brewing (loved it), Pitchfork Eatery (make sure you book, popular with good reason) and in the am Osso Negro (go early, very busy).

    Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices

  • TCX Course

    Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.

  • TCX History

    Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.

  • GPX Track (.gpx)

    Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
