Thank goodness today's weather was good. It was in the mid to upper 70's and humid. The winds were from the North-West. I haven't gone out on a serious ride in a few days. In the meantime, I did some strength training. My legs felt fresh from the start. I was sufficiently warmed up by the time I reached Route 202. I climbed Banducci at a good tempo. I did a bit of a push over the wall and kept the tempo nice and steady for the remainder. It was fun and games on the descent. After reaching the valley floor, I did mostly steady tempo, around 15 to 19 MPH. There was road construction near the entrance of SS, so I had to wait a minute or two. After that, I continued at a steady pace all the way to the summit. I'm not sure what my time was when I reached the tunnel, but it was around 1:20 hrs, plus or minus 2 minutes. I exited SS shortly after and cruised it to Pelliser. I increased the tempo just a bit all the way to the last climb. I kept the tempo steady, but not less than moderate. No digs over the top. I crossed the false flats at around 18 mph and fun and games after that. My body felt pretty good, so I decided to add the top of WTR at the end of the ride. My concentration was good for the most part. I was just happy and anxious to get out and ride. Very good for the moral. Ailments consisted of left hip soreness when I reached SS. It lingered for a few minutes, I backed off the pace, got out of the saddle, stretched. A few minutes later, it subsided. I have a bad saddle sore, but it didn't hinder my ride, another good moral booster. Balance and form felt pretty good. I had a slight lean on some occasions. Gear is working well. I did have a mechanical when I reached the summit of Banducci. Somehow, the rear derailleur cable became un-hitched. It took me a few seconds to figure it out. Fortunately, I just had to re-seat it into the unit. Other notes, there was some significant debris in the road in some places, most notably sand. This was caused by the recent rain storms we had the past few days.
