Joseph D. Grant County Park I'm going to be honest, I was okay with not riding today because my legs were kind of tired but I'm SO glad we rode today. JDG, the loop that we did anyway, was so beautiful. The weather was warm, shorts and short sleeves. There was no wind and the views just filled me with so much joy and gratitude. Every time we stopped I just couldn't help but feel so lucky to be riding there in that moment. The plan was to do a longer ride but I got hungry before we even got to the top of the climb and the bar and gel I had wasn't enough. We decided to call it when we got back to Mt. Hamilton Rd. and we were both completely satisfied with the ride. It just made sense to do the loop in this direction but I had planned a much longer ride the did this route in reverse. Now that I've done it, I realize the longer ride wouldn't have been much fun because the descent we did to Mt. Hamilton Rd. was very steep. It would've been a hike-a-bike climb for many sections. Even as I was getting ready to go, I was still deciding whether to bring the gravel bike or the MTB. I decided MTB since I've done two gravel rides already and I thought the easier gearing, for my tired legs, and the ability to bomb descents would make the MTB the better choice. Boy did I pick the right bike. I felt a little bad for Sonny but he also needs better tires. I thought yesterday was an amazing day of riding. I can't believe today was even better.
