The weather is great! Perfect temperature. Nice and cool. The wind is from the North West. Perfect for a SS ride. I wore the usual kit with my arm and knee warmers. I was perfectly comfortable. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made my way up OTR. I didn't bother to check the time. Without stopping, I headed up Banducci. The wall felt pretty good, and within my limits. The remainder was no less than moderate tempo to the summit, with traffic mitigation. I took a few moments rest at the summit. The GoPro camera had about 68% camera charge. The time was at about 37 minutes. Shortly after, I headed downhill through the farm-lands. I was able to hold good tempo till SS. I was feeling good, so I was putting in a bit more than usual. I made my way around the backside. I reached the tunnel in about 1:21 hours. I was estimating that I would loose 3 to 4 minutes at Boss Hogs. I zipped through town and made my way back on Banducci. I was feeling good and the morale was high. The trek through the farmlands went fast. I reached Boss Hogs in 1:21 hours. I was surprised that I gave up just a minute. I was encouraged and was motivated to put in a good effort till the finish. As I was climbing the last mountain, I noticed that the wind turned 180. That dashed my hopes of putting in a good time. So, I sorta pulled the plug and went back to moderate tempo. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to change the GoPro battery and took some photos of the local cattle. From there it was straight home. Route 202 had a lot of traffic, so I was on traffic mitigation duty the entire way back to OTR. From there it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. The morale was high and I had some things to think about, along the way. Gear worked perfect. Balance and form was good. Ailments, almost none, but the usual bodily fatigue at the last 30 minutes or so. Nutrition was plenty. I drank most of my Gatorade and a bit of water. Other notes, I only saw casual cyclists today.
