The weather cold and some rain. As was predicted. I decided to ride indoors. One of the maps of the day was the London map. Perfect for what I wanted to do. Two loops on the 8.5-ish route that goes into Box Hill. The plan was to do a negative split on the second lap. The legs felt pretty good from the start. I was amazed at how fast the minutes went by. Just before the first climb, I hopped off to turn on the fan. I got back on the bike just as quick, and about 30 seconds later, the climb started. I tried to keep it around 3.5 W/kg. It went fast. My calculations and memory served me well. It took under 9 minutes to complete the climb. I was able to recover on the downhill. Make my way back to the start / finish, and put a good dig through the tunnel riser. I was sufficiently warmed up and was able to hold a slightly higher tempo while making my way back to Box Hill. After making it there, I increased the tempo. I was trying to keep the wattage around 3.8 W/kg +. I was in the 4's in some places. I made it to the summit and putting in a negative split as was planned. I kept my tempo going as I made my way back to the start/finish, and put in a solid dig through the tunnel riser. I reached over 11 W/kg. I made it back to the start/finish posting a negative split on the entire loop. I think I placed around 18th. I have to look at the footage. Perhaps that was the placing on the Box HIll climb. Concentration was good. I was in the zone. Gear worked perfect. Balance and form was real good. Ailments were minimal. Mild hand soreness. Maybe a hint of quad soreness. Nutrition was good. I Had about 2/3rds of my Gatorade. No water. Other notes, there were about 6000 riders on this map.
