It's a perfect day for a ride. I woke up with a sore eye, so I had to let it heal for a few hours. It postponed my departure. The legs felt average to start. The wind was in the favorable direction, so I was riding into it for the first half. It reflected in my time. By the time I reached the Banducci summit, I was already 3 to 4 minutes behind my usual pace. I was doing no better than 18 MPH on my way to SS. After making it to the rear entrance, I headed down. I made it to the tunnel in about 1:04-ish hours. I sped my way through town and headed back on Banducci. I had a tailwind, but it wasn't super. I think I was averaging 2 to 3 MPH faster on the way back. I made my way through the farmlands and reached Boss Hogs in about 1:29-ish hours. So, I gave up a few minutes on the return. I was doing moderate tempo most of the way back, no heroics. The last climb felt good. I was putting in good tempo, and kept my momentum going over the summit. I pulled over to swap out my GoPro camera battery and took a photo of a bull that was napping. From there it was mostly fun and games. A bit of traffic mitigation on Route 202. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. Balance and form felt good, not great. Ailments, some mild hand soreness / numbness. Nutrition was spot on. I consumed all of my Gatorade. I was drinking water for the last 15 to 20 minutes of the ride. No hunger signs. Gear worked perfect. Other notes, no other cyclists today.
