Because Hanna made me do it. 😜
Decided to check out Donut King, and return to Nuri's Donut House, both in Redwood City, after lunch at Speederia's for a couple of slices of pizza.
The crosswinds coming descending Crestview were the craziest I've ever felt.
Attempted the Canyon Hill Sprint, not great right before having to put on a mask for Speederia's - I couldn't breathe. Right near the top an older woman in a Porsche came out of the gas station. She looked like she was looking my way but wasn't stopping. How she couldn't see a bright blue kit and bike, rocking wildly back and forth up the hill, I don't know. She should probably have her license revoked! Anyway, point being I had to slow up but I don't think I would've gotten the KOM. Might have possibly PR'd.
Donut King doesn't look like much inside the shop nor do the donuts look amazing but they did taste good. Got a Chocolate Raised and French Cruller. The chocolate glaze wasn't super sweet and had a bit of salt to it which was nice. The donut was good. The Cruller was one of the better ones I've had despite not looking great. The icing was sweet but not too sweet and the donut was pretty great!
Nuri's I've had before and they were good. I got there around 1:30p, right as they were locking up. I thought they closed at 2p. They were nice enough to let me choose from their box of leftovers. I grabbed a Glazed Raised and French Cruller. When I asked them how much they told me I could have them for free. They have the best donuts of the places I've tried in the area so far but now they're the BEST donut place in the area.
The Glazed Raised was good and the French Cruller was even better than Donut King's.
The headwind on the way back really sucked. It also made it a bit chilly. I was struggling to decide how to dress and I think I would've gotten it wrong either way. Like Saturday, without the wind is was warm but when the wind picked up it was chilly.
