I tried to get this ride in during the day but was too tired. I intended to do a recovery ride but that got thrown out and did a normal ride but shorter and not tried to push myself. The ride was without any excitement until I got about half ways thru. In a very dark section I first spotted a vehicle coming up and soon after the radar picked it up. Up to this point in the ride things were as usual I had a weird feeling as this vehicle was getting closer so I moved way over on the shoulder being next to edge. As the car got closer I got nervous not a usual feeling... I now was looking back on my mirror as good as I could watching the speed at which the car was coming up on the computer. The car was less than 50 yards back maybe 2 seconds I then heard a loud thump and tire skidding..I immediately checked myself to make sure the thump wasn't me! I now turned my body so I could see back it was too dark to see anything clearly other than the shape of the car/SUV but the thump sound like it hit something big like a deer, large dog, person or even a mail box. It couldn't be a mailbox because the car was still in lane and I didn't recall a mail box at that point, not did I see any animals or persons either. I slowed down and debated to turn around but another part of me said to keep going and get out of there, So that is what I did figuring the driver and any passenger would ok but whatever was hit may not be, One SUV passed me about 3/4 of a mile down the road after that and two other cars passed me after I made a right turn so I don't know if they passed the vehicle or came from one other other streets at the turn. Non of the cars that passed me had any front end damages so I doubt it was the car.
The rest of the ride was with no incidence and I had no issues at the turn that I had earlier in the day, I even hit a little faster no run off into the dirt! After ride I ate dinner and did a few things started watching TV thinking I did the ride report and upload I fell asleep watching TV. Just woke up and realized I forgot to do the report and upload, LOL!
