I had lab in the morning, so my schedule was delayed. I got back around 9AM and had breakfast. I decided to get out immediately after. I put on my kit, got the bike ready and did the last minute prep. At that point in time, I noticed the gastro was starting to complain. So, I decided to go upstairs and ice it for about 30 minutes or so. That did the trick. After that, I was good to go. The legs felt ok to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in average time. The temperature is warm. I'd say in the mid 80's or so. The air temperature is on the cooler side. I wore my arm coolers. It helped, in my opinion. I cruised the downhill. I made it to the base without stopping and headed back. Being that it was warm, I began with a modest tempo. The landmarks went by reasonably quick. I was trying to keep my mind occupied. After making it through the first and second challenging sections, the morale was lifting. By the last dip, I was in good shape. The body was responding well. I was doing the numbers, calculating the time to arrive at the summit. I was within two minutes or so. I didn't red-line it as I approached the summit. But, I was in the 150 BPM range. From there it was recovery, fun and games back to home. Concentration was good. I was thinking about where I wanted to take Peggy. I think we'll either go to Highline and Walmart path, or to the Meadowbrook park bike path. It will depend on her condition. Balance and form was good. Gear worked great. Ailments, some left hand numbness. Nutrition was spot on. I had at least half my Gatorade. No water. Other notes, no cyclists today. They are working on the new Loop Monument lookout point. There was a train on its way down through the loop as I was ascending.
