Today was a nice day to ride,,, I rode out to meet Janilsa and her small group of hill riders. We were having a nice ride getting to the hills, we did the first 2 hill and I thought one of the riders in our group was taking off and was passing Janilsa and my self. It comes out that it was a solo rider. He blitzed passed us like he was making a statement. I let him go but didn't like it. I want to go after him and run him down. I kept him in range and also kept an eye on the group. It got to the point I would have to let him go and wait for the group to catch up. I decided to run him down. He had developed a good lead by this time, with two hills to go before the flats. I poured on down hill, heading up the hill my right foot popped out of the pedal almost sending over the bars. Without losing a beat I re-clipped and continued up the hill, He heard me coming and made a jump going up the hill. Back down the hill on the final I forced the pace and at the bottom of the hill I did to him what he did to the group and myself earlier! When I went by him on the up hill he he seemed to give I took it up the hill and over to the stop sign shy of a 1/2 mile. He made a left turn as i waited for the group to catch up then off we went on our merry way. we had a few more hills to go before the hit the flats. It seemed like it was a blink of the eye and we were finishing the ride. I rode back to Fort Dix with Janilsa then on to my house. I gave up on getting the metric century, miles back thinking I was 7 miles short to the ride and we cut off about 2 miles at the start it was out of reach. When I was going up the last little hill which was about 2.5 miles to go I realized I only needed 8 miles so it was back on so 3 miles down the road and turn around so I only needed 2 additional mile before I turn in to my house a mile down and back a piece of cake, the metric century accomplished! Filled with joy that the nice ride ended in complete success. Never give up on your goals because it is always in reach if you are willing to put in the work and a little extra effort...
