I looked at the weather forecast before heading out the door, It seemed very warm out but the forecast during my ride stated a high of 85 degrees I thought I can handle that. Before getting to 10 miles I knew something was wrong... my left knee was bothering me big time, then both arms were acting up in pain, by 12 miles my lower back felt like a knife was being driven in and my neck felt like I was wearing a lead helmet. My body was falling apart, and it got worse as I was riding. I was struggling I was drinking fluid pretty good took in some food hoping I would feel better. I even took a rest stop at 26 miles ate some more food and drank even more. I started off hoping to feel better at the point to do 40+ or 35 miles I figure the difference would not make much difference. It felt hot, windy and some what humid but nothing that was extreme, I finally happen to look at the ride temperature at this point it was 94 degrees! It made sense it was too hot for me and had I know it was going to be this hot I would not have ridden. I had to make another stop at 35 miles at a WaWa to get ice, water and a banana. I met another cyclist that happened to be riding his motorcycle with his wife in tow, we spoke for a good 30 minutes which the time helped immensely. In the 8 miles home I nearly finished both water bottles. I couldn't get home fast enough. I took a cold shower ate a little drank a recovery drink and another electrolyte drink on my way to visit with my mother in the hospital. I was intending to do a second ride but that wasn't going to happen, not today a least.
