I struggled to get out early today. But I managed to get out by 9:15-ish AM. I decided to head out to Keene, then to the Alpine Forest. The legs felt good today. The weather was excellent! It has cooled off quite a bit. The air temperature was on the cool side for most of the ride. I brought a third bottle and put it in the mail locker for later retrieval. I don't recall checking my time at the summit of the descent to Keene, but it felt like good average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs on the risers. After reaching the base, I headed back without stopping. I kept the tempo nice and steady. I never went above 150BPM. Most of the time I was below 140BPM. I kept the tempo steady with no harsh accelerations. After reaching the summit, I headed to the mail box and filled my Gatorade bottle. Shortly after, I headed back on the road. I made my way up OTR. Well within my limits. Getting in and out of the saddle frequently. The Banducci wall went well. I was never in the red-zone. There was some traffic mitigation. Going up the Alpine Forest required the usual patience. I was increasing the tempo as the ride progressed to Lemans. From there, I headed to the summit of Banducci. I pulled over to take a few moments rest. I fed a Cliff bar and took on some Gatorade and water. The GoPro battery was low, so I swapped it out. After recouping, I let traffic by and then headed down the mountain. Descending off the Banducci Wall was fun. Nearly reaching 40 MPH. Once I made it to OTR, the morale was lifted and it was mostly fun and games from there. Concentration was good. Few lapses. I had stuff to think about and the morale was good too. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. The left glove developed a slight hole and part of the cushioning material dislodged. Will likely have no more than a month's worth on it. Ailments, some left hand numbness. I was shaking them off frequently. Nutrition was good. I had to feed at the summit of Banducci. It was my reward for making it there. Other notes, no other cyclists today. The Loop Monument looks complete, but no signs of additional parking.
