As was planned, I did a double today. I got out after eating breakfast. Winds were from the North West. It was in the low 80's. The air was on the cool side. The legs felt responsive in the start, but needed some warming up. I forgot to bring my mailbox locker key. So, I had to carry all of my provisions. I cruised the descent of Keene. I put in two digs over the risers. I had traffic behind, so there was motivation. After reaching the summit, I headed back. It was mostly a game of patience. Knowing that I had to climb the Alpine Forest afterwards. I kept the tempo steady. Counting off the landmarks. The music kept me company. I put in a good effort over the top. Reaching near maximum. I took a few moments rest by coasting a bit. I made my way to OTR. I did moderate tempo. The legs were a bit heavy, so I was using my lowest gears. I made it to the summit in average time. I pulled over to check the GoPro battery. It was at 11%, so I decided to swap it out. From there, I headed up Banducci. There was minimum traffic mitigation. The body was responding well. I made it to the Alpine Forest. I kept the temp moderate and picked it up a bit as I approached and made it past the speed bumps. The morale felt better and better. I had minimal signs of soreness, other than the usual exhaustion. The backend of the Alpine Forest was fun. Doing my tuck and reaching 40 MPH. I made my way to the summit of Banducci and took a few moments rest. I refilled my primary Gatorade bottle with the spare that I was carrying. I let traffic by and then headed back down the mountain. The descent off of Banducci was a treat. I was doing the tuck and the wind was cooperative (ie, not turbulent). After making it back to OTR, it was mostly fun and games. Concentration was good. It was a game of patience. I had enough to distract my mind while staying in th ezone. Balance and form felt pretty good. Gear worked well. Ailments, hand numbness. I had to shake them every now and again. Nutrition was spot on. I had most of my Gatorade, and some water. Other notes, I saw one or two cyclists today. There was a train passing by the Loop, but no one was at the Loop Monument to witness it.
