The AQI wasn't great but I needed to get dinner. The best air quality was around RWC so I decided to go to Speederia for some pizza and Donut King for some French Crullers. I left pretty late and it was still really hot. On the way home I was dripping sweat, even after the sun was behind the mountains. It was stinging my eyes and I couldn't see where I was going from Water Dog home. When I finished eating my slices, it was 10 minutes before Donut King was supposed to close. I brought the gravel bike so I could do some dirt on the way home too. I had to decide between dirt and donuts and I decided to do dirt. Turns out, I was able to do dirt and just got to Donut King right before they closed. I asked for two crullers and the guy behind the counter asked me, "Just two?" I told him that's all I could carry on the bike and then he told me he hated retail. He prefers wholesale. He repeated it a couple times. I don't know what that was all about. Don't all consumers have to buy retail? Weird. Also weird, he gave me three donuts. That I'm not complaining about. While waiting at the light, another cyclist rolled up to the light. I followed him for a while until just after Edgewood, then passed him. He was riding road but he rides gravel and knows some of the Photo Pace guys too. Jacob lives near Water Dog so we ended up riding and chatting the whole way back. Because we were chatting and it was getting dark, I decided to skip the dirt in Arguello Park that I had planned to do.
