Failed to get on the route soon enough, & Danny's bike mechanical issues forced a delay, so the heavier rain caught us again near the end, besides some intermittent sprinkles prior. Only 5 miles worth, & not quite as hard or long today. Hid out under a convenience store gas canopy for the end of it, just tired of getting soaked through. Danny had dirt & moisture enter the free-wheel cassette hub & foul the bearings & teeth, so needed to get it taken down & cleaned out @ RS-2, got SAGged out from a few miles out of RS-1, so most of the 2nd segment I had to ride alone, and then we had to wait for the mechanic to finish, & then they left Danny a text about 1 part he found on the table in breaking down to leave, that they may have forgotten to put back in place, so they will need to delay our start in the AM again to check inside the rear axle, although Danny said it was working well again the rest of the ride. School children in the middle half of the ride left signs for the riders to see, including the pages from a children's book "A Duck On A Bike", 1 @ a time, w/ enlarged laminated pictures & captions on little ground signs every 1/4 mile. I didn't realize what the teachers had done w/ the book right away, after the kid's greetings ended, so I missed the fact that they were telling us an appropriate story until several signs in, & I was not going back to take them, but I did stop & read the rest & got a few of the pics. Nice touch on their part. Must be a lot of children in their classrooms involved w/ the project, as their signs extended from mile 10 or 12 all the way out to past 57 or so. 35 miles of Greenway tomorrow. Stopped today's ride on Garmin without thinking of biking to the hotel.
