This route was SO much more fun on the Epic EVO! And according to Strava the speeds/times are pretty much the same as on my gravel bike. The sky was so crisp and clear today - zero haze. It was warmer than expected at the start of the ride so I didn't bring my vest but up on Mt. Tam the wind was a little chilly. Luckily it never got cold enough where I needed to put the arm warmers back on. We met this guy named Dylan who was climbing Old Railroad Grade on a unicycle and then we found him again at the Indian Fire Rd./Eldridge Grade split where he had just come down from East Peak. Serious boss! We invited him to join us at Pizza Hacker so he rode down with us. I was bombing the descents and really loving how I could just go straight down. The flipside, on the gravel bike I was really making sure to pick the best line so sometimes, in a way, it felt gnarlier on the MTB because I was going over technical stuff that I hadn't really looked at before. And maybe because I was going faster too. Serious fun! Originally I had us going down Indian Fire Rd. towards Kentfield. Every time we climb Eldridge, I'm eyeing that trail down the spine of the ridgeline but supposedly it was steep and gnarlier than Blithedale. Since Joe and Patricia were already not super comfortable on the descents we opted to go down Blithedale. That was fine by me since the last time I did it on the gravel bike, I thought it would be way more fun on the MTB and it was. The only problem was somehow we lost Joe and Patricia after the first little descent and then turned right and headed up Hoo-Koo-E-Koo instead.
