Bob wanted to do something flattish and with rain in the forecast, South Bay was the driest, warmest, and flattest.
I woke up feeling tired and I never felt better during the ride. I just didn't feel like pedaling. The second half of the ride, my legs also started to get sore. Weirdly, I wasn't really slow, I just didn't feel like I had the energy to go fast.
The Red Bull Bay Climb was today and I had considered doing it. I'm glad I didn't. With my legs feeling the way they did, it would've been a disaster.
Today ended up being a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be. I was expecting it to be mostly overcast but it was sunny and blue skies until about mid-afternoon.
It was hard to dress in the morning. At first I was wearing too much but after lunch, I took off the warmers and vest and it seemed too cold... until we got to Calero. After that it was shorts and short sleeve weather for the rest of the ride.
We weren't planning on having lunch until after Uvas Reservoir but that would've made lunch kind of late and we were starting to get hungry so we went to our regular Almaden spot, Tacos Al Pastor. It was an unplanned, burrito before the rain, again.
Coyote Creek Trail was nice and flowy. At one point we came across some wild pigs or boars with babies. I was not expecting that. We also came to a section that said the trail was closed ahead. Sonny and I were really curious and it turns out we could totally go through.
Somewhere in San Jose, I was hungry and spotted a Taco Bell. A Crispy Chicken Taco/Sandwich sounded like it would hit the spot. Bob also spotted Stan's Donuts which is supposed to be great so of course we stopped.
Unfortunately, Stan's was closed but I got my tacos. I wish I could say they made my legs feel better but they didn't do much of anything and even though I got two, I was hungry again not long after.
San Jose has a stretch of road were they turned a whole lane of traffic into a bicycle lane that's protected and it was really nice.
Towards the end of the ride, the sky was looking darker and more stormy but the rain isn't due until this evening.
