Fantastic weather today! In the low 60's, winds from the North West. It was a perfect day to go to SS. I wore 1 base layer, and the standard kit. I was perfectly comfortable for the entire ride. I have a case of mild saddle soreness. I was hoping it would subside before today's ride, but it happened to linger. I treated it as best I could before the ride, even using a patch. It wasn't too bad. I was having to get out of the saddle more frequently than usual. I was in moderate pain for most of the ride. That said... Going out the door, I felt good. It was apparent that I was going to have a good ride. It didn't take much time for me to get warmed up. I was ready to rock by the time I reached Route 202. I climbed Banducci in moderate to good tempo. No heroics, just nice and steady tempo. When I reached the false flat, I recovered and commenced with moderate tempo to the summit. When I reached the summit, I took a 1 minute break. Took some photos and headed downhill. It was fun and games, reaching 40 MPH+. The trip to SS along the valley floor was mostly moderate tempo. Again, getting out of the saddle frequently to alleviate the saddle pain. I was surprised to see that I was well under one hour when I reached the tunnel in SS. I made it the exit of SS close to one hour into the ride. From there, I cruised back to Pelliser. The wind subsided somewhat. It didn't feel like I had a significant tailwind as I anticipated. I was able to hold about 18MPH going through the valley. When I reached the last climb I put it into good tempo mode. I was out of the saddle frequently. I kept the tempo nice and steady going over the summit. No heroics. I recovered on the false flat and made my way to Route 202. From there it was traffic negotiating, followed by fun and games down OTR. Concentration today was very good! Few lapses, no gremlins worth mentioning. Balance and form was spot on. Probably one of the better on this route in the past couple months. Ailments, again, saddle soreness. I experienced deep tissue hip pains. A hint of lower back soreness. Gear is working well. Creaks have subsided somewhat. Other notes, no other cyclists today, to my surprise!
