Today's weather was cold. In the low 50's / upper 40's. I wore arms, knees, 1 base layer, cap and face. I removed the cap and face on the return climb. I was planning on doign an indoor workout because it was raining earlier in the morning. When I got up from my morning nap, the rain had stopped and the streets were dry. It was a last minute decision to get out today. I felt pretty good out the door. I was cold, but not unbearable. My arms and face were the worse. I was sufficiently warmed up by the time I reached the top of the descent. I cruised the descent, soft pedaling most of the way down. When I reached the base of the climb, I did the quick U-ee and started the climb. I took a pit stop at the Chavez center and I removed my cap and face mask and commenced the climb. I wasn't up for a high tempo ride, so I kept the tempo moderate. No digs today. I felt good overall. The first half is always the worst. After reaching the top of the loop monument, I was able to recover and commence moderate tempo. This was the case for the remainder of the climb. My concentration was good. I did experience a nasty case of the gremlins on the descent. I wasn't sure if I was going to shake it. Fortunately, I came too and was pretty much gremlin free on the ascent. Ailments were next to none. I have a slight saddle sore that will need special attention for several days. Balance and form felt real good. I had a good sense of symmetry in the legs. Gear is working well. The bike continues to make mystery creaks, but less than the previous ride. My thinking is that the temperature may be affecting something. Other notes, no other cyclists. There was one car on the loop monument. Looked like they had car troubles. I would have stopped if I were a mechanic. There were two trains today, one on the way up and the other on the way down. A busy day for them.
