Finally in France now the weather had changed and the sun was out, I had left behind the mountainous coastline of Spain and would be somewhat inland today heading north along flat countryside to the expensive up market resort of Arcachon.
It was however another long day with 97 miles to cover. I was cycling on flat mainly forested roads with lots of cycle paths and when I reached Bias I stopped at a striking church to take some pics. More beautiful forested tracks followed and when I reached St Eulalie the cyclepath actually went underneath an arch made form two tress grafted together. It was great cycling but hard work as there was a headwind and the roads were very straight and long which always makes the miles feel further. The last two strtches between Parentis and Sanguillet then on to Arcachon were tough, not helped by having to stop to let a cycle race past, theye were haeding south with the tailwind and hurtled past me effortlessly at 30mph or more ...... I was laden into the wind and struggling to do 10 mph !
In town I was pleased to find my Hotel was excellent and despite te town being extremely quiet this time of year they had a restaurant which was open and I had a hearty meal that night with about 3 other people who were staying in the Hotel.
