They let me go off the clinic leash Thursday morning, so morning RIDE it was. Last night, the radar map had me thinking it was not going to happen this AM, even though the weather discussion said the rain would break up & dissipate over the mountains & then reorganize over the eastern piedmont area. So I figured no sense changing out RV hitch on SUV for the new bike rack late last night in the dark. Then I awaken to a dry pavement & just cloudy skies, since the Lord saw fit to make the green disappear from radar on my AM off. (Mostly). Thus I had to hustle a bit faster getting the bike rack on the SUV to get out to RGUMC & start pedaling. Great leg heading east to start. But the late start made me turn around about 3/4 of the way to Narrows, to hopefully have enough time to be back to see a turtle appt @ 2pm. Hadn't considered the 17+mph headwind, fine blown misty drizzle & 11-12 degree temperature drop, as the cold front moved through w/o much green on radar. So my 22-30mph push became 10-14mph pull. Had to start afternoon out-patient in my damp kit. Not ideal. Not really very comfortable. Apparently lost the L grey nosepiece from my new Oakley Rx riding sunglasses. If anyone heads out to RGUMC today or tomorrow, B4 I can get back out there, if they wouldn't mind checking quick the driver's side of the 1st on the Right diagonal parking spot on that back row facing the creek, I will reward your sharp eyesight. Looks like I lost about 1.6 miles, 75-90 feet of climbing & ~10-11 minutes of ride recorded when Garmin froze on me after a fast picture stop, either d/t raindrops or more likely my knuckles messing w/ the phone. Learned what the brown border line around the Garmin data field means, & I hope I can remember how to clear it & resume recording w/o ending the ride. Windy wet ride still WAY better than working, esp. away from town. Pics next ride, hopefully sometime this weekend, of pink & white dogwoods, & blue & yellow flowers (think Ukraine, keep praying).
