Our last full day in Kansas, and we have crossed our halfway point. I can hardly believe it! We were riding at 5:45 this morning, I love sunrises from the bike! My morning silhouette is in one of the photos. We stopped at the tiniest town that didn’t have a single paved road called Utica, the only café had closed a couple of years ago. But they happened😊 to be having a huge annual party in the park with lots of vendors and it was during the set up. We were able to get breakfast burritos and a quick walk-thru. Invited to stay the day but absolutely had to get back on the road. Trying to beat the increasing heat and wind. A wonderful day, long straight roads with a gradual incline, and gratefully we reached our destination well before the thermometer reached 101°. *So you know you have a headwind when you’re riding turbo downhill and can’t get past 13 mph. *You know you got slammed by a gust when your bike goes from 15 mph to 8 almost instantly and you’re hanging on! *The ride takes twice as long and sucks up twice the battery power. Okay here’s a new one… try singing, chewing gum, and spitting out flying insects at the same time!😂 Yes really. A little less hot but a whole lot more windy tomorrow, so we are getting up at 4:30 and leaving before sunrise. We all have very good headlamps and tail lights. That puts me super late for bed right now, sleep tight! So thankful for Wi-Fi to send these to you! Love, Terri
