Nine loiterers, Gerry, Jackie, Jane, Jim H, Alan P, Clive, John J, Paul C, and myself met Lawrie at Ealing Common Station and led us on quiet roads through Acton and Wendell parks to 11’s at The Tea House in Ravenscourt Park. Leaving the park onto King Street then done under the Great west Road into Furnival Gardens alongside the river which we followed to Hammersmith Bridge. After crossing the bridge we traveled along the south bank past the former Harrods Depository and London Wetland Centre where left the river to head to and across part of Barnes Common before rejoining the river at Barnes Railway Bridge. Crossing the river at the bridge, thank goodness for the ramps to help walk the bikes up and down the steps, we headed across Dukes Meadow. Onward we headed through Chiswick House Gardens and back towards the river and lunch at The Bull’s Head.
The Bull’s Head, A Chef & Brewer Pub, a Grade II listed 18th Century Inn.
After lunch we rode towards Kew Bridge where we crossed the busy junction before heading up quieter roads behind the Kew Water and Steam Museum and heading under M4 and travelling up through South Ealing to Lammas Park and Elthorne Park where we joined the Grand Union Canal. Passing Hanwell Bottom Lock we left the canal to follow the River Brent under the Uxbridge Road and Brunel’s Wharncliffe Viaduct into Brent Lodge Park. The journey continued on and through Brent Valley Park and Perivale Park and onto Northala Park where we partook of tea before saying our goodbyes and dispersing.
