This ride begins with a nice 10 mile flat warm-up. Begin from Butte Creek Elementary school in Marquam. Ride the usual route to the Gallon House covered bridge. Continue on Hobart Rd NE then Mt. Angel Highway to Pine St. Go left on Pine and ride into Silverton. After a couple zig zags, ride past the entrance to Coolidge Park and continue up a short, steep hill to Eureka Ave. This begins a lengthy climbing section. Eureka Ave. is about a 2 mile steady climb, but at very reasonable grade. At mile 15.3 is the turn for Victor Point Rd. This is a 7 mile segment with several downhills, but also several long rollers. At mile 24.8 is the turn for Highway 214 and a very long climb. The highway was recently chip-sealed, except for the portion in the park. Got caught up in an organized ride, the ALS. Didn't see too many riders doing the Silver Falls route. After a 7 mile climb, decided to take a short rest stop at a pullout just inside the park. This was the location of a rest stop for the 2009 MS150. The big Silver Falls park sign had been removed.
Plenty of traffic riding through the park. At mile 30.7 is the Scenic Viewpoint. From here, it's about another 1/4 mile climbing then a 2 mile downhill. Just past the South Falls Day use area, is about a 1/2 mile climb to the Winter Falls pullout. Climb another 1/2 mile and then enjoy a downhill past the North Falls parking area. Be careful as there is a hairpin turn just before the parking area. From here, there was a little wind as the marine clouds had burned away. After another 5 miles of rollers and headwind is the Drakes Crossing fire station (mile 38.5) and another rest stop. From here is an 8 mile descent, with just a couple of very short rollers, which ends up back in Silverton. Ride through town onto Oak St, which becomes Highway 213. Turn left onto Monitor Rd. After 1.2 miles, veer right onto Meridian Rd. Finish via Meridian Rd, Marquam Rd, Wagon Rd and Highway 213.
