Shake-down ride - 1st ride since got a new phone & new Garmin Edge; only the 3rd opportunity for a ride in 6 weeks - this 1 ride every 21 days stuff is for the birds ~> between work, staff vacations, coronavirus & other non-coronavirus illnesses, mental health days off for staff, hateful difficult clients, rainy weather, and property destruction, Holly, Katy & I are not holding up as well as Job... And the Burkes Garden Century is in 6 days, & out of town back to Duke for 1.5 days of that. Great prep. Did feel strong, but extremely frustrated over the IT & connectivity issues, and a constantly recurring message "light network is not connected" that obscured the bottom of the screen, obstructed the touchscreen use, & beeped annoyingly every 1-5 seconds. Even though the radar & lights did all seem to (mostly) work. E-mailed Garmin, we will see what they say. The forums are not very optimistic. Hope I don't have to return & replace. Enough hassles between the huge old willow tree falling down 2 weeks ago, a tedious "removal" 1 week ago, a police chase that resulted in a druggie (likely) crashing the clinic sign & landscaping over @ 5am today, & so now tons of repairs to houses, yard & gardens, storage building, and now the front sign at the clinic (fortunately that was it, not the neighbors house, family, or new Bronco, and not the actual clinic or the Transit Pet Taxi) facing us shortly. Oh well, at least I rode out some stress & dodged most of the bigger raindrops - did 1 cemetery loop, then down to the track & scared everyone away I guess, (all 8 folks gone in 6 minutes after arrival, with me having to shift lanes constantly, not able to hang between Lanes 5 & 6 as usual), Old B-P Rd, back to the cemetery for another lap. And the chain only came off the back once & the front once w/ hard shift double-jumps ~ (new problem, needs to go for a tune-up very soon, but East Coasters was sold to the Trek folks, last week I think). No pics today, & not sure re: new Edge.
