The Oregon Outback route links up a handful of must-see, but rarely visited parts of the state. Starting in Klamath Falls in southern Oregon, the route traverses the entire state eventually wrapping up at the confluence of the Deschutes and mighty Columbia Rivers. (less)

A 90 mile route highlighting some of the best remote gravel and paved road riding close to Portland. Fast winding descents for miles, and long, rough climbs. (less)

A fantastic and remote route skirting several wilderness areas, grand views of Mount Hood, and miles of backroads. Route varies from pavement to gravel roads to very old and rough 4x4 trails. Plenty of camping options to break it into several days or viable over one day for the truly masochistic. (less)

Tire: 38c+ for the complete route including the Falls Creek trail. Overall road conditions are very smooth except for the trail which contains some technical features.

ORC (Oregon Cascades) Adventure Tour.

The goal of this route was to make a ~38c smooth tire compatible passage down the Cascades on both the western and eastern sides. While there are some trails, lots of gravel, there's also quite a bit of nice smooth pavement of the single lane variety. That said, there are extremely rough sections and a bit of sand as well. Some sections are difficult -- especially on skinny-ish tires. Despite this, given the overall scope I would do it again on a cross / rando bike or similar setup. A mountain bikepacking setup is a little overkill - but would certainly open up more rough potential on the trails. (less)

The Gorge Backcountry route is a 330 mile loop leaving Portland which encompasses lesser known vistas and lightly trafficked asphalt and dirt ribbons through lush forests, river canyons, and rocky escarpments both north and south of the mighty Columbia River. It is roughly 75% paved, (route is colored brown where unpaved) with services and campgrounds abound making it a perfect low-barrier route for someone looking to dip their toes in off-road touring. Winding verdant forest tunnels, infinitely straight prairie lanes, and chunder gates with dominating views of Mount Hood create one of the best collections of what northwest Oregon and southwest Washington have to offer an adventurous cyclist. The Timberline to Town Trail not only highlights some critical moments in Oregon’s history, but it’s also a blast, starting at treeline on the state’s most iconic mountain and descending 4,400 feet through an increasingly lush landscape. This is Oregon's iconic gravel route and was our first "gravel grinder" of any kind (yea, we hate that term too...). Put together back in 2009, this route has stood the test of time and is now a yearly tradition amongst many Oregon gravel aficionados. (less)

The Three Sisters Three Rivers route connects the three famous Oregon river MTB trail systems—McKenzie, Oakridge, & Umpqua—to the other side of the Cascade Range. It travels from the dry desert forest trails of Bend and Sisters to the hot springs and alpine ridges of the Upper Willamette to the lush, western flanks of the Calapooya Range and blue pools and hot springs of the North Umpqua.

The Tumala Tank Trap is a mixed-discipline affair and a rather challenging one at that. Blending equal parts road, gravel/dirt and technical mountain bike terrain, TTT offers the rare opportunity to ride 100% to the summit of Tumala Mountain and over the other side... The Fire and Ice Cave Loop connects together two caves in Gifford Pinchot National Forest to make a perfect bikepacking overnighter or day ride surrounded by lava beds formed 20,000 years ago. The route offers varied gravel and dirt roads between open forests, subalpine meadows, and huckleberry fields...
