Looks like we're on a cooling trend. It was in the low 80's, winds from the North West. I wore the standard kit, 1 base layer and a bandage on my right middle finger from the previous ride's ailment. My legs were sluggish from the start. It took me a while for them to get warmed up. I was still feeling a bit sluggish at the end of OTR. By the time I reached the top of the Banducci wall, my legs felt a little better. The alpine forest felt easier today. Probably because I didn't have 2 hours going into it. I adjusted my left cleat before the start of the ride. My left hip was starting to show hints of soreness, but never escalated. After reaching the summit of Banducci, I took a few moments rest and then hit the downhill. I was able to practice my tuck a couple times. The way out to SS was mostly moderate tempo, keeping an eye on traffic. I made a push over the top. The descent was fun, able to practice my tuck, head over the stem. I wasn't concerned about my time going into the tunnel. I made the usual push through SS and then the exit. I was stretching as much as I could. The return on Banducci was mostly moderate, paying attention to my form. I think the cleat position is working well. I'm going to increase the outward stance by about 1 mm. I've yet to decide to do the right and left, or just one of them. Once I reached the farmlands, I was able to relax a bit, take in the scenery, and maintain a steady tempo of about 18MPH +/-. The last climb was solid. My legs were feeling much better at this point in the ride. I held a high tempo through most of it. With a push over the summit. I recovered on the false flat and then exited on Route 202. This was mostly traffic negotiation. OTR was fun and games. I did the usual push over Mariposa, not too far into anaerobic. After that, it was the usual cruise to home. M concentration was very good. I was in the zone. Minimal gremlins today. Ailments consisted of my right mid finger. It has an abrasion from the previous ride. I put a bandage and taped a cushion onto the right lever to help. I think it did. I wasn't in much discomfort. My left hand still has some bad callases in the lower palm. Balance and form felt good today. As I mentioned the wider stance seems to be helping. Will adjust the cleats to dial it in even better. Gear is working well, but the Gopro camera was not recording when I got home. I think I forgot to start the Brunton battery pack. Other notes, I saw one other cyclist today.
I stopped to take some photos of some young cows grazing. They appeared to be posing for the photo.
