Wow! What a day! Great weather! It's sunny, cool air, mild winds from the North West. Perfect for a ride to SS. My left outer knee has been bothering me. Fortunately, it felt perfectly fine on today's ride. Within the first minute, I was able to determine that I was good for a SS ride. The legs felt good to start. I made it to the end of OTR in good time. The Banducci climb had some traffic mitigation, nevertheless it felt good. I reached the summit in about 39 minutes. I took a few moments rest and then headed down the mountain. There was minimal traffic from behind. The trek to SS was uneventful, I was doing moderate tempo. As I was making my way around the backside of SS, a rider bridged up to me. Took me by surprise. The cyclists were out in force today. I made it to the SS tunnel in about 1:04 hours. I zipped into town and got back to Banducci for the return. Mostly moderate tempo through the farmlands. All the while, I was monitoring my hunger. I didn't bother checking my time at Boss Hogs, but likely a 1:05-ish hours in time. The last climb went well. I was debating whether to feed at the summit. I decided in favor. After reaching the summit, I pulled over, had a bit to eat (my Clif Bar), swapped out the GoPro battery, and then got back on the road. There was no sign of traffic from behind as I was making my way down Route 202. So, no stress there. OTR was mostly fun and games. The legs were starting to feel heavier. The push over Mariposa was the usual grind after a big ride. I shut it down after reaching the summit of Weston. Concentration was good. The morale felt good. I was keen on getting a good ride in. First of the season. Minimal gremlins. Nutrition was good. I went through my Gatorade bottle and some water. I fed a Clif bar. Ailments were minimal. The knees felt good. No cramping. Hands felt pretty good. Gear worked flawless. There's still a chattering noise as I ride over rough roads. Still haven't figured out what that's about. Other notes, I saw about 8 or 9 cyclists today. Fantastic!
