It's a wonderful spring day! In the 70's, clear blue skies. Winds from the North West. Perfect for a ride to Keene. This is the second day with my new bike. I had to tighten the stem bolts after having installed the GPS / Camera mount. After that, it was smooth sailing. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I'm still getting used to the way it feels. I think I'm getting it down. The Keene descent was the first time I road the bike in such a technical descent. Full of twists and turns and risers and dips. I was feathering the brakes as much as I could, no locking it up. More of the same for the duration of the descent. I put in two digs over the risers. The bike felt compliant. I reached the base in about 28 minutes. The return trip went well. The bike feels better fit than the Madone, although they have their similarities. The Di2 shifting is very similar and a marginal difference. I have the 34 tooth on the Emonda. I used it every now and again on this ride. I was able to spin at 100 RPM while riding on the steeper slopes. I'm getting used to the different gear selection. I have calluses from the previous ride, so the hands were a bit sore while gripping with the injured parts. The landmarks went fast. There was a rider that was on his way down after I was about 6 or 7 minutes into the ascent. He never caught up to me, assuming he was riding back from Keene. The hands were going numb as they usually do on a warm-ish day like today. I'll have to decide if I want to lower the stem. I'll likely leave it as is for a couple months or so. I kept the tempo no less than moderate. No heroics, but keeping the momentum going. I made it to the summit in about 1:10 hours. So, good time. After reaching the summit, I recouped and tried something on the bike. I tried the syncro mode on the Di2 shifting. I programmed the right hood button to cycle through the options. It worked, but I'm not sure if I like it. I keep thinking it will mis-shift while grinding away, out of the saddle. Nevertheless, it's there for me to use. After reaching the summit of Weston, I shut it down. Concentration was good. Minimal gremlins today. Ailments, the calluses on the hands from the previous ride and numb hands while climbing out of the saddle for more than a few minutes at a time. Gear worked flawless. Balance and form feels good. The saddle allows me to move a bit fore and aft. Nutrition was good, no hunger signs. I drank most of my Gatorade and some water. I'm getting used to the new bottle position on the bike. Other notes, I saw one cyclist today and there were a few people at the Loop Monument.
