Wow! What a day to go riding. The weather is nice and cool. I'd say mid 60's or 70's. Winds from the North West. I made it to the summit of the descent in good time. The wind was strong at this point. I was surprised at the time I posted. I cruised the downhill. I put in two digs over the risers and then to the base. I didn't bother checking the time when I got there. I headed back, no stopping. The legs were responding immediately. It didn't take but a few minutes to feel the climbing legs set in. The landmarks went real fast. I really love this bike, it keeps up with my efforts. It just feels right. I had this feeling for most of the climb. I was able to use the gears. I'm getting used to the gear selection. There were times where I was doing 100+ RPM on the climb. I'm not used to that. The saddle position is interesting. It feels like I can ride either forward or towards the back of the saddle. It reminded me of the last Mount Baldy hill climb time trial. A coach was explaining to use the front of the saddle while in the hoods and the back of the saddle while on the top. This seems to hold true, but I have to experiment a bit. I was putting down some serious HR figures towards the last 10 to 15 minutes. Doing above 155 and into the 160's in the later slopes. I posted a 1:05 hrs over the top. A very good time considering I was going into a headwind on the way down. AKA, the wind didn't shift in my favor. After reaching the summit, I recovered a bit and then back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston. Concentration was good. Some hints of gremlins out there, but I held it together. The music helped some motorists were encouraging and the visitors at the loop monument were kind enough to acknowledge my presence. Ailments, some hand numbness. Nutrition, spot on. I went through about half my Gatorade. No water. Balance and form feels good. Definitely better on the Emonda. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, the rear brake is no longer rubbing against the disc rotor.
