It was raining earlier the morning as was predicted. I chose the London Hilly Loop with the intention to post negative splits on the lap and the Box Hill climb. I'm using the Emonda. When I hopped on, I thought I chose the right map. After about 6 minutes into the ride, I noticed that I was going the wrong way. I ended up stopping the training session and then restarting it with the correct map. I was warmed up, so I went out faster than the usual first lap. The legs felt pretty good. When I reached the climb for the first time, I was doing 3 W/kg, plus or minus 2 watts. I held this tempo for the duration of the climb. After that, I recovered a bit on the downhill and put in a dig through the tunnel riser. The second lap was faster, as I planned. The legs and lungs were warmed up, so I gave it a good push. The climb went as expected. I was putting in over 3 W/kg most of the way up. I posted a sub 10 minute climb. I think it put me around 10th place or so. From there, I recovered, put in a dig through the tunnel riser and completed the lap. I posted a 30 day PR. So, mission accomplished. I posted a negative split on the lap and the climbs. Concentration was good. My patience was good today. No gremlins. Gear worked flawless. I'm continuing to be impressed by the position on the bike feeling more compliant. Balance and form was good. Nutrition was good. I drank most of my Gatorade with some water. Ailments were minimal. The hands didn't go numb as I anticipated. Other notes, there were about 500 riders on the London map today.
Note: There is a segment of about 6 or 7 minutes that is not included in this entry. It's the ride that I had to abandon due to selecting the wrong route.
