Today was a great day to get out. Weather was about 70's. So shorts and short sleeves. I was perfectly comfortable for the whole ride. The wind was from the north, and it was strong. I started out very conservative. and did a bit of a dig over the Banducci wall. I then did good tempo to the summit. I had no ailments at this point. My concentration, on the other hand, proved to be the weak point in the ride. Some times I had to regain my focus. The first half of the ride was like that, but the last half was a lot better. So, I memorized the names of the roads that I have been going through without knowing their names. So, the streets are Pelliser, Giraudo and Bailey. In that order, on the return trip after making a left turn off of Banducci. The only ailments I had was a slight numbness in the right hand. I lost a bit of energy when I made it to the to of Cummings Valley Rd. I think I was on the end of my normal energy levels and was starting to use my reserves. Despite the fact, I was able to keep good tempo and tapped out a sub 1:50 hrs ride. But that went away after a minute or two. As I was flying down Banducci, a bug got stuck in my helmet. I thought it flew out as it didn't sting me out of panic. When I got home, there was a little object that looked like a big apple seed. Turned out to be the beetle that landed in my helmet on the way down Banducci. I put it in a container in hopes that it can be used for my nephew's biology project. So, gear-wise. Perfect, no complaints there. I should be getting the computer interface on monday.
