Great route! I rode to the start from the Motel 6 where I had 3 hours to lay down after "commuting" by bike from South Pasadena, from which I had a late start on Saturday. I didn't have enough time to get a proper meal before sleeping or before the ride, so I poked around early in the route and found a great Italian deli/bakery (Pappalecco in Del Mar Heights) where I found the perfect breakfast sandwich, and otherwise downed snack bars all morning. After 4 hours my legs finally woke up, and I finally started to catch up to some of the other riders. The San Diego Randonneurs had a HUGE turnout for this ride! And, David Nakai and his wife hosted a lunch break at their home which set me up perfectly to finish the ride feeling good.
Lot's of great scenery on this ride. Some new roads for me, and some old favorites. This ride is front-end loaded with climbing in the first 70 miles.
