Well, this was the big ride with company. I got up early. We shoved off around 9 AM-ish. The weather is great. On the warm side, but cool air. Rob and Peggy joined me. We rode together to the summit of OTR. Rob decided to go back home, while Peggy and I headed to SS. The legs felt pretty good. I was doing modest tempo most of the time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation. As did the remainder to the summit. We took a few moments rest at the summit and took some selfies. We let traffic by and headed down the mountain. Peggy was able to keep up on the mountain bike. After reaching the base, we kept going to SS. We found a porta-potty, so Peggy took a bio break. From there, we made our way to SS. We made it around the backside and descended to the local park. We both took a bio break there. We ended up stopping at the local mini mart to refill on drinks. I bought a Gatorade bottle and refilled the bottles of water with ice. From there, we headed back on the farmlands for the return. There was a nice tailwind. We were in direct sun light, but it was comfortable. I introduced the Boss Hogs landmark after passing it. The last climb went quick. We regrouped at the summit. I swapped out the GoPro battery while waiting to regroup. Route 202 was traffic mitigation time. We stayed to the right side and merged with traffic to make the left turn. It felt mostly safe. The OTR descent was a treat. We pushed over Mariposa and then made our way back home. Concentration was pretty good. The company had me thinking a bit different, and in a good way. Ailments were minimal. Some signs of fatigue here and there. Nutrition was good. I went through 2 bottles of Gatorade and some water. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. Other notes, there were many cyclists today.
Other notes, the GPS stopped when we reached the minimart in SS. I noticed about a mile later. So, there's a mile of metrics gone unrecorded. I also botched the Banducci descent by forgetting to restart the camera.
