I got up on time but had to do 4 little things that made me late to meet up with Lynn. The only thing that kept me from over heating was the ride breeze. This was my longest ride of the year, year I know it is a wimpy distance but I had a tough year with many challenges... I was going to do a power/speed interval workout but I have been promising Lynn to get down his way to ride with him. Lynn was a trooper, I knew his wattage output so we worked it hard for both and myself. He hung in there and was glued to my wheel. I forgot how hilly Medford/Chatsworth Rd Rte 532 was, nothing real steep but hills none the less an it seemed that the wind blows both direction!!! It was nice seeing so many riders out on the road, I don't normally see anyone on my normal routes. I made two huge mistakes on this ride, one I didn't bring batteries for the front lights and two I didn't drink anything for the first 2/3 of the ride. I paid for the latter on the last 1/3 of the ride. First my right inner thigh started to cramp really bad! I got it to go away Jen it would come back for several hours, I thought this was going to kill my ride adventure or turn it in a major pain feast. I started to drink my electrolyte mix and slowly I got it under control, I was so happy I had 7 miles to go with a smile on my face! Out of no where my left inner thigh started to cramp, luckily I was already drinking and catching up on the electrolyte intake. This took another 4 miles, tired and thrilled that I was going to hit my ride distant goal I kept the pace up, think it was going to be slower than I hoped for. Not only was it my longest ride it was one of my fastest non race rides this year!!! Did I say the heat kicked my butt? Well it did, now to recharge and run out to pick up my new Zipp 1030 front wheel. I know I can't get the best out of it right now but next year and the price was too good to past up on it! Tomorrow ride adventure will be a zone 1 recovery ride and Monday will be high power shorter speed/sprint intervals the the rest of the week to recover and get ready for Saturday's TT race! Stay safe out there and enjoy your ride!
