The weather is heating up, and I'm preparing for employment. I got up around 6-ish, ate breakfast and headed out. The temperature was around 70, mild winds from the North West. The legs felt pretty good to start, although I had a lazy head from getting out so early. I didn't bother checking the time to the summit of OTR, but it was likely good average time. The Banducci Wall had some traffic mitigation, otherwise went as usual. I was using my small gears. More of the same to the summit. When I got there, I took a few moments rest and then headed down the mountain. I was riding with a bit of caution as there was traffic on the way up. I was able to roll over the storm drain near the base. The wind was mild, so the outbound was a bit faster. I made my way through the farmlands and to the backside of SS. I stopped at the local park for a quick bio and then got back on the road. I zipped through SS, reaching the tunnel in about 1:05-ish hours (give or take) and made my way back on the farmland roads. Given that the wind conditions were mild (at this time of the morning), I did not have a generous tailwind. I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:27-ish hours. The last climb went well. The legs were starting to feel fatigued at this point. I kept my tempo steady. After reaching the summit, I pulled over to swap out the GoPro Battery. I got back on the road shortly after. I recovered a bit till I reached Route 202. There was some traffic mitigation, but not much. Descending off OTR was fun. I pushed over Mariposa, then shut it down after reaching the summit of Weston. Concentration was good. I was a bit heavy in the mind, so I felt a bit lethargic. It probably detracted from my performance. I was a bit impatient at the start, but got better after reaching the summit of Banducci. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. The bike is stealthy quiet. When I was descending off Banducci, I had enough speed to roll over the storm drain. There was a small pot hole in the line I was taking. I ran over it and heard a crack noise from the bike. I'm trying to get used to it. There's no damage, but I suspect it is coming from the stem and handlebars somewhat getting jolted. Nutrition was good. I brought a third bottle just in case. I went through a bit more than half my Gatorade and some water. My GI is a bit sore now. I think the Gatorade mixture was a bit too much at this time of the morning. Will keep that in mind next time. IE, more water, less Gatorade. Otherwise, no hunger signs. Ailments were minimal. I had a general sense of fatigue on the last half of the ride. Attributed by the previous days' core training and given this is the first time getting out so early for a SS ride. Other notes, I saw one cyclist today.
