Hot weather was predicted for today. I decided to do a Keene ride. I tried to get up as early as possible. Probably could have gotten up half an hour earlier. Suffice it to say, I headed out around 8AM. The legs felt pretty good to start. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill, put in two digs over the risers. As I was descending, I hit a bump that forced my handlebars to drop ever so slightly. Nothing dangerous. When I reached the base of the Keene, I pulled over to re-adjust the handlebars. I had my multi tool that barely did the job. From there, I got back on the road and headed up the mountain, no stopping. The legs felt pretty good. I was counting off the landmarks as I normally do. After making it to the second dip, I started to do interval efforts. Nothing too hypoxic, but enough to get the HR up. So, I was alternating between in and out of the saddle. I did this till I reached the summit. As I was climbing, I was thinking about heading up to OTR after making it to the summit of Keene. I decided in favor. I was warmed up, so no sluggishness. I kept a steady tempo to the summit, nothing much else to say. I was within my limits. After reaching the summit of OTR, I headed back. I stopped once to pet the local horses and then made my way back home. Pushing over Mariposa and shutting it down after reaching the top of Weston. Concentration was good. Minimal lapses. No gremlins. The morale felt good. Balance and form was good. Gear held up flawless. Although, the handlebar situation still persists. I'm guessing it has something to do with the GoPro / GPS mount that's connected to the stem. I ended up buying some mounts specifically for the Emonda's stem. Will see how it works when I get it on Thurs. Nutrition was good. I drank water first. The rationale being that I had breakfast just before the ride. So, the GI needed time to digest. After about an hour into the ride, I started to drink more Gatorade. It felt better than the last SS ride I did. Not so much bloating sensation. I could have used another bottle of water. Other notes, I saw about two cyclists today.
