Tryin' to build up those miles. Decided to start from Gravelly Point instead of NRL because I am not sure what the rules are about getting back through JBAB on bike after 5pm. Something something north gate might be closed but bike gate might be working or not, or you gotta ride up S. Capitol to the main gate nope nope nope.
STRONNNNNG wind from the west after yesterday's big storm and front passage, but not much humidity. Figured ride east-ish to start, along the Anacostia River, and the way back would be windy but not out in the open and maybe the wind lets up a little. Both were true. Coupla spots -- like the second part of the loop between MIle 3 and 5 -- were HARSH. Check the speed in that spot. Normally, that's a 20mph section of perfectly flat, smooth road.
As usual lately, didn't feel that great at first but by about 9 miles in, started feeling pretty good. The mostly downwind leg to the rest stop at Mile 17 was glorius, though, as the route bent north there was less advantage. Nevertheless, the west-running legs between 18 and 21 weren't all that bad.
Happy to be riding alone; usual companion could not get out of work early enough for my taste.

Best format for turn-by-turn directions on modern Garmin Edge Devices
Best format for turn by turn directions on Edge 500, 510. Will provide true turn by turn navigation on Edge 800, 810, 1000, Touring including custom cue entries. Great for training when we release those features. Not currently optimal for Virtual Partner.
Useful for uploading your activity to another service, keeping records on your own computer etc.
Useful for any GPS unit. Contains no cuesheet entries, only track information (breadcrumb trail). Will provide turn by turn directions (true navigation) on the Edge 705/800/810/1000/Touring, but will not have any custom cues. Works great for Mio Cyclo. Find GPS specific help in our help system.
Estimated Time shows a prediction of how long it would take you to ride a given route. This number is based on your recent riding history, and represents an estimate of moving time. Each time you upload a new ride, your Estimated Time profile will adjust to reflect your most recent riding. Only rides exceeding 10 miles (16 km) will affect these estimates.
