The weather is teetering on the cold side, but not so much yet. I wore arms, knees, and a headcap. The wind was from the South East. I didn't bother checking the time when I reached the summit of the descent, but likely good average time. I had a sheet of newspaper in my jersey. I removed it before the descent. I stashed it in a shrub so that I could recover it after the end of the climb. I cruised the downhill and put two digs over the risers. The first one felt good, the second not so much. I had some thigh soreness in the right leg. It dissipated later in the ride. After reaching the base, I headed back, no stopping. The landmarks went quick, even with the headwind. The morale felt better as the climb progressed. The legs were responding well. Not much else to tell. I kept the tempo steady and picked it up to high tempo in the last 5 to 7 minutes of the climb. After reaching the summit, I turned around to pick of the newspaper that I stashed and then headed back home. Concentration was good. I felt patient through most of the ride. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless, although I did hear some rubbing of the disc brakes as I was descending. Not so much on the ascent. Nutrition was good. I had slight hunger signs, but after chugging some sport drink, it subsided enough to finish the ride without feeding. Ailments were minimal. Some right hand numbness. I had some deep quad soreness as I was nearing the base on the descent. Other notes, no cyclists today. The motor cyclists were friendly.
