I had lab today, so I wasn't able to get out till afternoon. The temperature was perfect for riding, but the wind was a little more than usual. It was prevailing from the north, but it was a little turbulent as I got into the later parts of the ride. I had heavy legs for the first 10 minutes, and my calf muscles were a little sore. By the time I reached the top of Banducci, I was fully warmed up, and the ailments were pretty much gone. The wind was strong on the other side. I had a strong headwind, so I wasn't going much faster than 18mph on the way out, through the farmlands. The wind was mostly favorable on the return trip, until I reached the last climb. The wind was turbulent, so I had a headwind for part of it. Prior to that, I made it to Boss Hogs in about 1:21 hours. I decided to do modest tempo from that point. Other ailments on the ride, I had some hip discomfort, and I think I had either a little soreness in the back, or calfs. The hip was the most noticeable and was with me for the last 20-30 minutes of the ride. My concentration wasn't that good today, but wasn't horrible either. I was having to coach myself into focus on more than a few occasions. Leg balance was good, despite the soreness. I had a glass of Gatorade and water, also a power bar. I think it helped a bit, and kept me topped off. Gear, no problems there. Other notes, I thought I was going to hit 40mph+ on the SS descent, but no go. The wind was just too turbulent at that point.
