Day 30 Trail all the way. Headwind. It was hard to leave Dave & Pam's hospitality, and we'd been deprived of a hour's sleep so we left "an hour later than usual" this AM. The trail seemed easy enough, 55 miles of off road dedicated trial called the Virginia Capital Trail. Very nice. Except: headwind. And cold. So only the 55 miles was to be had. Richmond very interesting it seems, but quiet on a Sunday. One can not ride a bike on the canal walk as Google suggests. It has several stairs. They have provided bike wheel rails on the stairs, but they don't do the job for loaded touring bikes. Still working out route etc to Alexandria, hoping/expecting better wind and temps. Likely will attempt to Fredericksburg or just south of that depending on conditions tomorrow. Bike Shop: Breakfast: Pam & Dave's Lunch: mile 23.5 Charles City. great stop. live music!
