It's a great day to get out! I had a dentist appointment in the morning at 9AM. I got back before 11 AM. So, I skipped my morning nap and headed out for a bike ride. I decided to go to Keene n back. The weather is in the 50's, winds from the North West. I wore a long sleeve jersey, arm warmers, knees, head cap and some newspaper in the jersey. I was hinting on the cold side when I got out, but it got warmer as the ride progressed. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill and put in two digs over the risers. I stopped once to take photos of the train going around the Loop. After reaching the base, I headed back without hesitation. (I checked the rear light real quick while I was at it). I forgot to check the time when I reached the base. I decided to stop at the Chavez Center to remove the newspaper from the jersey. From there, it was non-stop climbing. The legs were good and so were the knees. I was doing in and out of the saddle efforts. Out of the saddle to keep the momentum going and in the saddle to recover and hydrate. The morale was good. As I was passing the lower loop, I spotted smoke just like I did the last time I did this route. I didn't see any fire, but decided to keep going. The body responded well today. The miles went quick. The morale got better as I passed the landmarks. Towards the end of the climb, I was guessing how many songs it would take to reach the summit. I guessed three, it took two. After making it to the summit, I took a few moments to recover and headed back home. I shut it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. The morale felt good. No problems at the dentist, so no worries in the mind. Minimal lapses and no gremlins to make note of. Balance and form was good. Gear worked flawless. Nutrition was good. No hunger signs. I fed part of a banana just before the ride. I went through most of my sport drink. Ailments were minimal. Mostly hand numbness mitigated by shaking them. Other notes, no cyclists today. There were people at the Loop Monument as I was on my way down and on the return.
