Live Here, is what the sign is supposed to say if it wasn’t buried in the tall grass. The last couple of days have been very cold and today, despite the what the temperature said, was supposed to be cold as well (because of the wind chill). I dressed for it but it still wasn't enough apparently. I think my base layer is to blame. Once it gets sweaty, it doesn't really dry and then the wind chill is amplified. There were some warm spots but they were pretty rare. I wasn't really interested in doing as much climbing as we did today, especially given how steep a lot of it was. Saw Holly going down Hwy 9 with her group as we were climbing up. And then bombing down Hwy 9 at the end, a motorcyclist going up actually waved at me. On the way down I was thinking, I wish the west descent of Hwy 84 was like 9 - faster and twistier - then I'd enjoy it. The new growth at Big Basin is getting taller and bushier. Still weird to be descending down to the park HQ and having open sky above you instead of being in the canopy of trees. For lunch we went to Los Gallos in Boulder Creek. We've been there once before. I thought I liked it but today's burrito was pretty meh. It's also WAY too loud inside because the room is too live. The place was pretty empty except for us and another group and the other group was echoing throughout so much that we couldn't even hear ourselves. We normally go to Wild Roots Market for sandwiches and I actually think they make a better sandwich than the burrito I had. The one benefit of Los Gallos was being able to eat inside instead of being outside in the cold. Traffic was weird today too. It was either eerily quiet, like Hwy 9 or Bear Creek or way more cars than normal.
