Cross over bridge to Cold River Rd, find that it's Dead End? Check maps. Ride Rt 123 instead to Drewsville. Country store to re water if needed, town common. Investigate "far end" of Dead Ended Cold River Rd, find that it's Dead End marked at this end too, ride to find out why. A gate about a mile down UNPAVED road. No cars, but a hybrid bike could have passed thru, beautiful river, cool shade. Back track to Old Drewsville Rd. Old Drewsville Rd is UNPAVED in the center third., might be dicey to climb sections on a bike with tiny contact patches.... Into Walpole to find LA Burdick's Chocolate, some of the best chocolate to be had in NH! Out of town on hilly roads to Blackjack Crossing to find Benson Woodworking and Unity Homes. Onto RT 12, the traffic picks up, with wide shoulders. To Stuart & Johns. Back up Rt 12 to find Major Leonard Keep, and a Amish buggy. Turn onto River Rd. Farms, farm animals, Cheese. Stay off Rt12 using N. River Rd back into Walpole. After Main Street turn back S onto Rt12, to Rt123 and it's bridge into VT. Watch out for the NARROW underpass under the tracks onto Rt5 N. Into Bellows Falls, VT. Investigate Welcome Center, find Vilas Bridge OUT, use bridge just N. instead, back into NH. S again on Rt12 to find Bridge history, and Walpole Creamery. You're done back at the parking area.
