A Ride on the NH Ice Cream Trail to Gould Hill Farm, Hopkinton and Richardson's Farm, Boscawen, NH. Ride begins and ends at the Northern Rail Trail parking area off Rt 4 on Depot Street in Boscawen, NH. There is also a Town Park near the parking. Proceed S on RT3/4 to the split onto Rt3 only. Cross the Contoocook River, turn onto Washington. Other NH Ice Cream Trail Rides have been here and have pics. Note that Electric Ave leads to Edward H York Dam, but don't expect to be able to charge your phones or anything... Ride River Road to find the River Lady. Reach Gould Hill and its' fine views. You'll have to choose the High Road on Carter HILL Road and Parish, or the Low Road on UNPAVED Broad Cove. I like the Low Road, but I have a Hybrid. Ice Cream and Views at Gould Hill Farm are both great! Coast down the hill to cross the Contoocook again, sporting kayaks likely out from Contoocook Canoe and Kayak. Ride the other bank of the river for a while, and then head away from the river to find a heavily fortified bird house, before reaching Pillsbury Lake F&G put in. Beyond that is where things get interesting. The route planned uses Chadwick Hill Road, past Warner Pond, to Water Street. Chadwick Hill Road is not a road. It's a stream bed. Washed out with 8" deep mud flows from heavy rains the night before. Kids on motorized 4 wheel ATVs were impressed that I was even walking the bike through it. But it's a shortcut, I love shortcuts. Otherwise you could ride the extra paved road up to Webster and back across to Water street. But, you won't see the put in on Walker Pond, or Rayz Play House. Or get covered in mud, just before arriving at Richardson's.
