A bright chilly morning with rain promised later saw Liliane, Dave P, Paul, Glen and myself head out of Uxbridge, up Chandler’s Hill, to elevenses at The San Remo Cafe in Black Park. After a pleasant break Paul left us for home and we four continued on around the top of the lake and out along Rowley Lane to Wexham Street. We continued on through Stoke Poges to Driffield Lane and on to the One Pin Crossroads at Hedgerley hen followed One Pin Lane to the Beaconsfield Road. Crossing the main road a footpath led us to Egypt and the entrance to Burnham Beeches. We followed Dukes Drive and McAuliffe Drive stopping to read the information board at the site of the Hardicanut or Hartley Court Moated Farmhouse. We left ‘The Beeches’ onto Park Lane then it was almost down hill to Burnham and lunch at The Old Five Bells. Dave left us here and made his own way home.
After lunch we decided that as the weather was deteriorating we would continue the planned ride but skip the tea break at Langley Park. Thus we went out of Burnham to Farnham Royal past Stoke Place and Wexham to George Green. At George Green we entered and traversed Langley Park to follow NCR61 to Iver then on to Cowley where I left Liliane and Glen to return to Uxbridge and me to Hillingdon.
