Of 22 riders gathered at Uxbridge on a fine Sunday morning 13 followed me out of Uxbridge in two groups heading for elevenses at Black Park Via Chandlers Hill passing Dave P and Liliane on the way. After refreshments Lawrie, Cliff, Jackie, Chris, Melissa, Alec, Dave T, Andy, and I left John, Jane, Clive, Luke and Leslie who were returning home, at the cafe to walk round the bottom of the lake.
Assembling in the car park we cycled off up Rowley Lane and on through Stoke Poges to Burnham Beeches via Duffeld and Templewood Lanes. We crossed the “Beeches” on Lord Mayor’s Drive exiting on to Pumpkin Hill. A quick down and up Pumpkin Hill led on to Curriers Lane and Dorney Wood Road to Littleworth Common and lunch at The Jolly Woodman. On arrival at the aforementioned inn we found that almost all tables were reserved. A table for four was found for the less hardy and a table in an enclosed gazebo for the more hardy was utilised and two of the extremely hardy of the group lunched in the garden.
After lunch we left Littleworth Common by Boveney Lane and Park Lane to enter the “Beeches” on to Halse Drive then McAuliffe Drive and Dukes Drive to exit the park at Egypt. Continuing on through a path to the A355 we headed the One Pin crossroads to turn towards Stoke Common and Fulmer. Reaching Fulmer Lane we found Chris and Melissa who we had missed earlier to find that half the party were not in sight. A puncture had delayed them so Andy headed of home and Chris and Melissa to the Ugly Ducking while Jackie and I awaited the arrival of the remaining members.
Reunited we all made for tea at The Ugly Duckling before heading back to Uxbridge.
All in all an eventful days cycling in good company.
