Today was completely different from the last ride. The weather was cooler, my legs felt a bit heavy in the first 20 minutes, the winds were a bit stronger. I cruised the first 38 minutes doing moderate tempo and I lifted the pace a bit, as I approached the summit of Banducci. I did a solid average time, especially for the wind conditions as they were. I continued with moderate tempo across the fields and lifted the tempo a bit after nearing the summit of SS. I cleared the tunnel in over 1 hour. Somewhere around 1:03ish. When I was approaching SS, my right knee started to complain, so I had to drop the tempo a bit. This continued on and off for the remainder of the ride, but on the last 1/3, it got better. Knowing that I was doing an average ride, I saw no point in lifting the pace above moderate, although I did lift it to good tempo in a few areas around the farmlands return trip. My concentration was fairly good, mostly focused on conserving energy while going into the wind. Balance was pretty good. I wasn't expecting that. I was able to tick the pedals over and stay on top without too many adjustments. Other notes, when I was approaching Boss Hogs, a bug got caught in my glasses and I tried to get it out by flicking the lens. It got lodged in there, so I stopped to get it out. Sometime, while getting the bug out, I lost balance and fell to my left (into the driver's lane)! I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't click out of my pedal. I looked around for cars, and fortunately, there were no cars on either side of the road. I got this on video, it must look real silly. I didn't suffer from any torn clothes or damage to my bike. I did, however, nick my right ankle, which I noticed when I got back and was in the showers.
