Fantastic day today was! The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Nice, cool, sunny and winds from the north. Out the door, my legs felt good. I did a good warmup to the top of the descent. My legs felt very similar to the last ride, but quite as strong. I think my HR was able to reach higher beats on the previous ride too. Needless to say, I felt great. I soft pedaled the downhill. I made it to the bottom in above average time (less than 28 minutes). As I started the return ascent, I could tell that I was going to have good legs on the way up. I did moderate tempo to the bottom of the loop. Then brought it up slowly to high tempo all the way to the loop monument. At that point, I made a dig over the top. I was able to recover on the small downhill portion (immediately after the loop). Once recovered, I continued with high tempo. My pace was nice and steady. I got out of the saddle frequently to make sure I stayed on top of the pedals. My breathing was nicely controlled and my leg balance was spot on. I could tell the difference in this type of weather. The air is a bit more dense with O2, and it kept my body from over-heating. I was able to keep my concentration in the zone, wonderfully perfect. My only ailment was about 2 miles from the summit, I started to cramp a bit in my right abdomen (diaphragm). I was able to block it out and let it recover before I reached the summit. The gear is working great, no problems what so ever. I came so close to doing a sub 1:05, by a few seconds. I can't believe I did better today than the previous Keene n Back ride. Just fantastic!
