I was a bit reluctant to get up after my morning nap, but I managed to drag my body out of bed for a bike ride. The weather is beautiful. In the upper 50’s, mild winds from the North West. Perfect for Keene n Back. I wore arms, knees, head cap, thick base layer and newspaper in the jersey. Turned out to be the perfect combination of clothing. The legs felt pretty good today. I made it to the summit of the descent in good average time. I cruised the downhill, putting in two digs on the risers. The power meter wasn’t working, so I don’t think I got power readings. After reaching the base, I headed back, no stopping. I let the climbing legs settle in and then held a sustainable tempo. I was a bit impatient to start, but as I settled in, the miles and landmarks went quick. I was feeling much better after reaching the second dip. I kept my tempo going over the top. After reaching the summit, I took a few moments to recover on the bike. From there, I headed back home, shutting it down at the top of Weston.
Concentration was good. Minimal lapses and no gremlins. I was a bit impatient to the base of the climb, otherwise I was in the zone. Balance and form were good. Ailments were minimal. Some mild hand numbness while grinding out of the saddle. Nutrition was good. I fed a banana, half an apple and some grapes just before the ride. I had no hunger signs during the ride. I went through most of my sport drink, no water. Gear worked flawlessly. Other notes, I saw one cyclist returning as I was making my way down to Keene.
